I have an hour and a half drive to work. Half way here this morning, the temperature gauge started reading very hot, just under redline. It varied up and down along the way. I turned the heater (vent) on full to pull heat off the engine and made it to work. When I arrived at work, the engine was smoking so I opened the hood. It looked like coolant expoded all over the engine yet the resevoir was the same as it was before I left the house. What in the world could be going on and is it safe to try to drive all the way home after work today? Thanks.

You probably have a coolant leak. Get your system pressure testing to find this leak.

No problem mikemarc! Glad you got it solved. It probably would be a good idea to replace all your coolant hoses to ensure this doesn't happen again.
