Hi Guys, I have a 1998 Honda Accord V6L. I have just discovered that that the backlight on the auto trannsmission (i.E the display of D, N, D1, D1, D4.) Has stopped working. Also the backlight of the clock has gone away. Could you pls tell me whether I need to change some fusse's or batteries? And how to go about them?

Hi PT2007,

If other indicator lights such as meter back drop lights and cruise control dimming are all affected, then you need to check for a blown fuse.

The other possible cause is a disconnected or faulty brightness control switch.

The most expensive part would be the intergrated control unit.

Hi and thanks. All other lights are working perfectly fine. I think its just the clock and the auto transmission bulb/ fuse thats blown. Any idea how can I verify that and replace the bulb?

Hi PT2007,

Remove the clock assy and you would find a socket bulb twisted into position.

As for the gear position lights, more work would be involved.

You need to remove the meter assy and take out the circuit board to replace the bulbs.

Are you sure it is the bulbs? I have never heard of so many bulbs fusing at the same time. Check the connectors, maybe it is loose.
