1998 Honda Accord Putting the car into drive

1998 Honda Accord 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 200000 miles

When I start the car and press the brake to put the car into drive, nothing happens. The shifter doesnt move and I have to use a screwdriver to press a button allowing me to put the car into drive. What is causing this?

Have the shift interlock system checked out-could be the shift lock solenoid that's causing it or the shift interlock computer.
