Check engine light is staying on. I replaced the EGR valve, recycled the light by disconnecting the battery. Light came back on. I have heard that there may be a carbon build up in the block. Do I need to drill or clean that out somehow - and if I do, to what depth do I have to go? I do realize that the gas cap could also be causing this problem, but I need to make sure that my replacement of the EGR valve was done correctly.

My 99 accord had this problem. Apparently Honda had issues with this, and extended the warranty to 80,000 miles. This won't help you and didn't help me either. I did replace the EGR valve, and also had to have the block drilled to clean out the carbon build up. I found this on line and once that was done, the problem seems to have been fixed.
