I brought the car to the Honda dealer. They scanned and found the P0420 code, which they said it's a bad catalytic converter. They test drive the car and said that the performance is fine. So should I just ignore it instead of paying more than $1000 for a new cat? Is it bad to drive with a bad cat?

Yes it is bad to drive with a bad cat. You will also not pass an emissions test with a failed cat.
