I recently had my starter replaced, the following issue proceeded: Once I hit approximately 35 mph my entire car shakes, including the steering wheel. It also pulls to the right. When backing up my brakes sound screach like metal on metal. My main concern is my car shaking violently, non stop. Where do I start? I'd like to know what I should have checked when I take it in to the mechanic.

Hi latayb,

Does the shaking occur all the time when you reach the specified speed? Was the problem there befoe the starter replacement?

Replacing the starter should have nothing to do with the shaking.

Brake screeching when reversing indicates the brake pads are almost worn The screeching noise is emitted from the brake wear indicator brushing aghainst the rotor. You should get the brakes checked.

I was not having this problem prior to the starter being changed.
It shakes even when I'm not accelerating. But gets worse as I accelerate, especially at speeds of approximately 60 mph. When traveling on the freeway, I try to maintain a speed of 60-65mph, at this point it shakes pretty bad.
I was going to have my front end alignment checked out today. Is there anything else I should have checked? I'm a young girl, in a semi shady neighborhood, I don't want to get horribly ripped off. :)

Usually vibrations are caused by unbalanced tires or CV inner joints. Check for dented rims or misssing balancing weights on the rims.

For CV inner joints, check for torn rubber boots or spilled grease. Those are tell tale sgns of bad joints.
