1998 Honda Accord Air come on when it want to

When we start the car, the air won't come on. After a little while, it comes on by itself. Also, if we hit the dash sometimes, it will come on. Can you possible tell me what the problem may be?

From your description, it is quite possible that either the switch (OFF-1-2-3-4) is intermittently bad or loose wire harness connection.
