Hi :
The maintenance light of my Accord is yellow which is showing up an error code of EGR valve. I took it to a mechanic and he cleaned the EGR valve and cleared the error code.

After two days, the maintenance light turned back ON with the same error code. The I replaced EGR valve with the one which I got from a salvage yard. Same thing repeated, maintenance light turned back ON. He checked all tubes and stuffs and told me that it shows no signals of leaks.

Please help me with some pointers! What can be wrong here. How can we find it out other than replacing more parts like Oxygen sensor etc? Is there a way to diagnose better? Please help me.

Thanks for your support
Ann

Hi anncrystal,

Since the part is from a scrap yard, it could be faulty as well. There are a few different types, sure you got the correct one? Check the wire colors and position in connector.

This EGR valve is controlled by a purge solenoid, check that out.

An out of adjustment or inaccurate TPS would also cause the problem.

Hi anncrystal,

I guess the first option is to replace the EGR again. Make sure the wire colors are the same as your initial pc.

Normally the EGR electrical would show the code and other controlling items would not show but create misfiring etc.

Hi anncrystal,

I don't know about after market parts because I have always used the original parts from the scrap yard.

In my country exhaust emission system is not compulsory so I haven't replaced many yet as only a few has them
