1997 Honda Accord spark plugs

Hello, I was replacing my spark plugs, and as I pulled each spark plug wire it had engine oil on it. I looked down the valve cover and noticed it was flooded with engine oil. What could of caused this? Thank you

Replace the valve cover gasket.
