My Honda shakes at stop lights or when I reverse and the check engine just turned on, What could it possibly be?

It could be a number of things but I would start with the possibility that the engine is running rough and not firing properly. When was the last time a tune up was performed. Often the culprit can be a bad plug, plug wire, or be a result of a crack in the distributor cap. I would suspect that one of the cylinders in not getting a good steady spark.
