I recently took my old Honda Accord to a local mechanic to have them check the sparkplugs. They stated that they needed to be replaced (along with PVC valve and other parts). They also wanted to do a "run-right analysis/test that would cost an additional $75.00.

I tried to find information about the "run-right" test on-line, but could find no information. Since repair technicians sometimes add additional charges to a repair that aren't necessarily needed, I am wondering if this test is necessary on my model of car, or only an additional chanrge.

Thank you.

They tell me it cleans out the throttle plate, fuel lines and injector, and lower intake valves.

that sounds more like they are going to run something through the fuel system to clean things up.

some people treat it as a preventative maintenance item. some people only do it after a problem shows up and hopes it fixes the problem.

if you dont do it now, it may end up costing your more later.
