Within a few miles of filling my gas tank with fuel, the Check Engine Light came on. I also overfilled the tank. I checked the manual and it suggested removing the gas cap and putting it on again. It also said that afte driving three trips that the light would go off if this was the problem. The light is still staying on. Is there anything else I can do before I take it to a mechanic?

Hi kyreed1,

Get a free scan done at Autozone and let me know the exact truble code. It could be some thing other than the EVAP system. There are numerous things that cause the check engine light to be triggered. It could be a barrage of things ranging from spark plug issues to emissions (O2 sensors or EGR Valve).
