I have sludge leaking from my oil filter as well as lack of power on acceleration and oil on the spark plugs. Would that be head gasket and piston ring faliure

If oil is on your spark plugs, that is due to your valve cover gasket leaking (assuming it is fresh oil, not burnt oil).

If your oil filter is leaking oil, replace the filter.

It doesn't sound like a piston ring problem, if it was you'd be burning oil and seeing blue smoke while you drive.
