My 1996 Accord has developed a whine in one of the belt driven units that is not involving the engine or transmission. The car runs and drives fine but the squealing,grinding noise seemms to be coming from the area of the AC compressor. Yesterday my wife came home from the YMCA(1.5 mile drive after a cold start up) with a knocking noise that sounded like a bearing knock from the car. After checking that engine was not hot nor running rough I drove the car 7 miles to the Honda dealer. The knocking noise stopped after 1 mile and the familiar squeal and grindind noise returned for the rest of my trip. Any suggestions here?
