My car was bought from a private seller for 5,000 dollars. Its a nice little car that has had little problems til now. It has electrical issues that have got significantly worse(locks go up and down) and the lights flash. No mechanic knows whats wrong there.
I noticed one day that as I was parking in Target the steering went out. I didn't think too much of that until two weeks later, as I was driving down the highway, the gas pedal would not allow me to accelerate and I fell to 25 mph. I tried to start it again and it did on the 2 try. Took it to the local repair shop they said it could either be the coil or the distributor. Replaced the coil for 230 and said it still cut out when the distributor was placed in(i think it may have be a refurb). Took the car back. The next day it cut out in traffic. Tried to take it back down, it cut out 4 times-got it towed to the shop. They replaced the distributor again. This time for the part it was 417 alone. Is this a reasonable price for this type of car?

Coil price was a bit high
and I would of replaced the distributor 1st as its a more common failure
some after market distributor know they come with the coil already in them
price of the distributor fair
