1996 Honda Accord How to tell if I need a new engine

ok here's the problem. last year i replaced the distributor and the timing belts and a lot of other components. now i have white smoke coming out the exhaust and the car keeps cutting off on me. i have a couple of leaks but don't know from where. is it time for a new engine? the servie engine light stays on, and i get funny loud noises coming from under the car when i accelerate and when it's raining.

Hi there,

The engine is getting old but might still last for a while more.

Get the CEL light checked and retrieve the code to find out what is wrong. It could be something that is not too expenxive to resolve and might reduce the smoke emission as well.

Funny noises while accelerating could be due to loose drive belts and some adjustment should solve the problem unless the crankshaft pulley is faulty.
