My coolant overflow tank leaks coolant from the cap. I don't think the tank or cap is defective, I think my cooling system is acquiring too much pressure. I just removed my thermostat to see if that would help, but it didn't. What is a cracked block? Could that be the problem? What does it mean to pour a sealant in your radiator to fix a cracked block? Does this make sense, I think this is what was told to me..

Hello,

Ok, is is leaking or is it boiling out of your overflow? Does the coolant seem to boil as soon as you start the vehicle while the engine is cold? If so smell coolant with vehicle running, does it smell like exhaust. If so you most likely have a blown head gasket. You can try a Radiator Stop Leak to temparelly slow it down or stop it for a short time.

I would recommend having a garage you trust check it out. That is if you feel the vehicle is worth fixing.

If it is a head gasket it could cost up to $1000 depending on labor cost in your area.

yes, the coolant boils (not leak) out of the overflow resevoir, but not right away with a cool engine. It takes some time to heat up. That's all I know. Thank you for your reply; I appreciate it.

Ok, Can you tell if the coolant is circulating? If it is you possible have a bad radiator cap or radiator. The cap would be the cheaper and easier way to go right now. You can check the radiator (while it is cold) by running your fingers up or down the fins, if they turn to dust or break off easily then you will need a radiator.
