My mechanic suggests that the top table (top plate?) is in need of replacement. After consulting the shop manual, I was unable to locate any parts by that name. Any suggestions? The replacement is to help eleminate the shudder in the steering wheel when braking from highway speed. Thanks.

I am not sure what the devil he is talking about but that problem is clearly related to the "rotor" or "disc". With the stopping and starting of today's driving, the heat builds up in the rotor and can cause them to warp. You could have them turned or planed but the thinner they are the easier they are to warp again. The cost of new is really not a lot more than the price to have them turned. You might ask if this is what they were talking about.

Very easy repair job.
