The transmision indicator light on the dash has always blinked around the d4 or the o.D. Indicator light on the dash but the car ran fine but at ttimed the light didnt flash and the transmissionwould go from overdrive on the expressway at about 65-70mph and it would just slip back into 2nd and back and forth until the light around d4 startedflashing again then it would shift on out right once it got heated up or?Idk. But now it dont have 1st gear or 3rd gear and I have to pull it manually with the shifter back to 1st to get it to downshiftbut then its really in 2nd gear then it shifts in thecar to 3rd gear but it really goes from 2nd gear to o.D. Or 4th can you tell me what causes that thx

Hi jkbaker35,

When the D4 light starts blnking while driving, an error in the transmission control system has been detected and it would cause erratic shifting.

Retrieve the trouble code and let me know what it is.

To retrieve the trouble code, use a jumper wire to connecthe SCS and turn ignition switch ON. Count the blinking of the D4 light to get the trouble code.

Prolonged flashes = 10 while quick flashes = 1. A longer pause in between menas the next code would be read. The process would repeat once all codes has been flashed.
