I like to purchase this car that's been in a accident. The front passenger corner was hit. The owner says the chassis is damage and the other damage is very little to repair. The rest of the car inside/out is in great shape.

My question: Can I bring a savage title car back to life (road worthy) with repair of the chassis? Will DMV or my insurance have to inspect and approve this repair?
What do I have to do?

This is a general question so my answer will be general as well. Since there are 50 states and thus, probably 50 different specific ways to go about this, CAVEAT EMPTOR! Check w/ your local folks first before you lay down any hard earned cash.

Here in Washington State, you can readily ressurect this sort of vehicle but you must get an inspection by the State Patrol first (after all repairs are done of course). With a "Rebuilt" title in hand, your insurance company should not have a problem. Selling this car may be an issue though. Even though the car may be fine, many people are hesitant to purchase a vehicle with any sort of oddity to the title. But, if you are just interested in getting a decent deal for cheap, check it out. It could be a great deal. Again, just be sure to get the specifics of what needs to be done FIRST!
