My car will not change gears when driving and if I am parked, the D4 is lit on the dash as well as the P for park. When the vehicle is in reverse the D4 button is also lit. The vehicle runs really well with no bucking. Is it possible that this is something electrical?

Most likely the Transmission Control Module is faulty.
