power steering has been getting owrse...i suspect a leak....then one morning..i tried to start car and the ignition wont turn...at all....i tried turning the wheel and the key simultaneously but did not work. does the faulty ignition have something to do with the power steering being out?

how can i solve locked ignition?

i did used a home depot-made spare key for 2 straight days before this happened....not sure if it's a possible reason.

hi shannmichael,

The power steering is not related to the key cyliinder.

The tumblers inside the key cylinder must have jammed up, try rocking the key inside the cyliinder and see if you can get it working. If not, try using the original.

Get a locksmith to repair it even if it works for now.

As for the power steering, check the fluid level, if it is low due to any leaking, it will be stiff to operate.
