Engine Cooling problem
1992 Honda Accord 4 cyl Automatic 371K miles

I have this (1) particular molded hose behind the head that (just behind the thermostat) that keeps bursting. I had no overheating and the system was bled to make sure there was never air in the system. 3rd one this year.
1. What could be causing this problem?
2. I know this sounds dumb but, would it be bad to fab one with copper piping from home depot (the ones they use for waterheaters) or somthing and use the red high pressure hose to clamp together or would that be bad?

Hi steveal01,

When there is no overheating or coolant losses issues, the most likely cause would be the quality of the hose used.

What type of hose did you use?
Is it OEM specs?
Where is this hose attached to?

Hose bought from autozone that was spec'd for that car. Hose attached area of thermostate to head (5/8" molded hose). I guess I get what I pay for. I even contacted the dealer to find out what type of hose they use. Funny thing is that they didn't even know, just what they get from OE. That gives me confidence by the dealer. Thanks for everything.

That hose seldom gives problems and I am surprised why you are having problem with it.

Hope this time it is fixed for good.
