I OWN A1992 HONDA ACCORD LX WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. FROM ACOLD START ALL IS FINE, BUT WHEN THE CAR WARMS UP, THE TRANSMISSION MOMENTARILY "PAUSES" RIGHT AT 20M.P.H. BEFORE SHIFTING INTO 2ND GEAR. RIGHT AT THIS POINT, THE ENGINE JUST REVS AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL, AND THEN IT SHIFTS INTO SECOND GEAR. THIS CONDITION IS WORSE AS I CONTINUE TO DRIVE. AND THE OVER HEATING GAUGE STARTS TO GO UP. PLEASE HELP ME TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM!

Optional Information:

Hi DEBHAGGY,

The symptoms described about the trans points to a low pressure in the system.

1. Check if the fluid level is correct.

2. Check the trans throttle pressure cable for proper adjustment. It should move in tandem with throttle opening and should not have any lag in the cable.

As to the overheating, did you check the radiator coolant level?
