Where was the sensor located that you replaced?

your vehicle has a cooling fan switch and an engine coolant temperature sensor. These sensors are identical and sometimes people confuse them up.

Also, you may not of reset the ECU properly. Try unplugging the ECU fuse for a few minutes.

This is a bit tricky on a 91.

I would check to see if you are in need of a tune-up (spark plugs, wires, ignition cap and rotor)

Also, you may want to check for ECT (coolant temperature sensor) to see if it is providing the proper parameters to the ECU

Well thanks for the help !~

We replaced the coolant temp. sensor because that's what the cel (code 6 ) said was wrong with it .After reseting the computer the check engine light comes back on after running it for awhile ,with the same code 6 .

The coolant sensor we replaced is the one below the distributor ,It has 2 wires going to it .

How should I trouble shoot this ? I have a multimeter on hand to help .

Thanks bro . :)

The ECU provides both power and ground to the sensor.

Green/yellow is ground, the red/wht wire is power when the key is on RUN II.
