Two questions really. First, is that over the past 4 months when we turn off the car the "cooling fan" (engine fan) that kicks on after a few minutes would squeal very loudly, then it began to shake and vibrate very loudly, and now it doesn't seem to come on. It appears after looking through the Chiltons manual that it is the engine fan. It the fan dead, or could it be some relay switch?

Second question is that around the same time this all began, when we ran the air conditioning there was a squeal and the car vibrated noticably (still would pump out cold air). When we turned off the A/C it would stop. Could the two be related, or is there something wrong with the A/C unit?

Yes these 2 are related. Replace the cooling fan motor and all will be good. The fan controls the ac by cooling the condenser, when its not working the high pressure is so high it causes the compressor to lock up. Bottom line is replace your cooling fan motor. Dont use your ac until you fix it or you will destroy your ac compressor. Hope this helps
