1991 Honda Accord Cruise will NOT turn off!!!!!!

The light in the cluster will turn off when I press the brakes, clutch, or on/off button, but the engine maintains the rpm's. I have to really press the brakes(hard) to slow the car which slows the engine then everthing is back to normal.

The cruise control unit is faulty. Do not attempt to use it till you have replace it.
