When my heater is on during winter car heats up when it is still or while driving in congested traffic but when I drive for sometime without stopping like on the highway, temperature falls quickly and it again rises back when I stop or drive with frequent stops.
What is cause of this and how can I repair it? Your help will be highly appreciated, thanks.

I would suspect and replace thermostat at 1st
check and add coolant as needed
make sure you bleed the coolant system ,after any repair
