When driving on the highway around 70-80 mph the tach drops to 0, the pedal doesnot respond then moments later the car dies. I coast a few seconds and then the car starts, put it back in drive and a couple mins later it happens again. I have experienced a similar problem before and have replaced distributor, ignighter, coil (twice), plugs, wires, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and fuel filter. The ECM reads speedometer failure which I just havent had the funds to fix, I have a serious problem with the electrical system in this car I just don't know where else to look PLEASE HELP?
Thanks Bruce but the fuel pressure is fine and I also inspected the Ignition switch and cleaned all the contacts in it.
I'm still STUMPED

I am thinking either a fuel pressure problem or an ignition switch.

Your problem is most likely not O2 sensor related. The fact that is dies and restarts makes the diagnosis harder. What is the model of the car.

I am going to agree that things will test fine, because the engine is working. But when the car shuts down that is where a component has failed. Now that said, your problem is that the car starts right back up. So everything then would test just fine. I go for these two items. The EFI module or the ignition switch.

There is a resistor with EFI, I tested the resistance between the terminals in the connector, the manual says the resistance should be between 5-7 ohms but only two read there and two others are between 11-12 ohms could this be the problem?
