1990 Honda Accord Engine & clutch problems

You turn the key off and the engine continues to run. only way to turn it off is to stall engine. then if you push clutch in, it makes a starter grinding sound. any ideas?? its my friends from out of the area, i didnt see it but that is how he explained it.

Sounds like there are two problems. One lead to the other.
1 - the likely reason the car won't shut off is because the ignition switch is bad.
2 - the likely reason for the grinding sound when the clutch is pushed in is a damaged piolit bearing.
My guess is that your friend is stopping the engine by popping the clutch. This will damage the clutch pressure plate fingers and piolit bearing -- he or she needs a new clutch and a new ignition switch..
