When I drive the car, there is a steady, rhythmic clicking - kinda hard to hear, but as speed increases, it clicks faster. Also, if I turn RIGHT into a steep driveway or down a hill, it clicks REALLY loud. The sound is from the front end. I thought it might be a CV, but a mechanic said something like Sway Bar or Swing Bar or something. He said it was deteriorated and almost gone - to fix would be $500 or more. What do you think the problem might be?

Hi jjbreadmaker,

Thank you for the donation.

If the noise is a constant clicking and increases in tandem with the road wheels, it most probably is the CV joints. However CV joints seldom clicks when they are moving in a straight line, unless the joint is in very bad condidtion and when accelerating, the noise level increases.

The sway bars would not have consistent clicking noise.

I would suggest getting a second opinion if you are not sure and where noise problems are concerned, we are not of much help.
