1990 Honda Accord brake light/ not able to shift

My car won't shift out of park unless I insert something in the shift unlock first and start it in neutral, then I noticed my brake lights are out could this be caused by a bad brake light switch?

Sure do-the brake switch power the shift lock control solenoid if not you won't be able to come out of park-
