I have 1990 honda accord ex (inspired edition). When car is in park idle goes up and down? Is o2 sensor the problem nad how do I fix it?

Hi jasonjames,

Surging is caused by excessive air getting past the throttle body to the intake manifold and p[ossible causes are :

1. Idle speed adjusted too high.

2. Vacumn leakage. Check for faulty PCV, leaking brake booster and dislodged hoses.

3. Fast Idle Valve not closing fully. Check for faulty valve or clooged coolant hoses to it.

4. Faulty EACV.

5. Low coolant level.

Is the Check Engine Light showing?
