Is it necessary to remove the fuel rail/injector, intake manifold, etc to replace the water pipe which connects the water pump to the radiator hose or is the another way?

Hi tmonroe,

It is not necessary to remove the items mentioned but not an easy job. Get at it from below by removing the manifold support brackets and the passage holding bolt attached to block.

However you need to clear off as much resrtiction as possible to enable easier removal. Air cleaner hose, engine torque rod, distributor are what I normally remove first.

Thanks for the information. Not an easy job for sure! Which do you recommend in through the underside or the top? I do have access to my neighbor's shop with pneumatic auto lift. I guess the underneath would be better. What is your advice?

With a lift definitely it would be easier from below but you still need some work from top as well.

Removal of the oil filter would get you more working space.
