1988 Honda Accord open hood latch from outside?

Ok, so my hood release cable came unhooked from latch when I took it to a starter shop and they closed my hood and fully latched it shut withoput the cable hooked up. So how can I open this from the outside?

Hi lunchbox50,

If the cable end is still hooked you can try to pull the cable from the front grille area or the remove the fender lining and pull from there.

Pullling the casing would be able to unlock.

If cable had dropped off, only way is to raise front part of vehicle, remove lower splash guard and try to get to it from the bottom.

Thanks Khlow2008, it's unhooked from latch so i'll have to try to go from the bottom, If I cannot open the hood myself what do you think my best would be, Do shops fix things like that? Or would they charge me an arm and a leg to do it if they did?

Hi lunchbox50,

Sure they can get it done, but as to arm or legs, I would not be sure as my prices are unrelevant to yours.

It should take less than an hour to get the job done.
