got 88 accord lxi , i am having intermittent problem of cranking but engine wont start. One guy said its Main relay which triggers the fuel pump , got it replaced. Fuel pump has been replaced. Currently my shade tree mechanic says to beat the fuel tank with a hammer and it seems like after that engine starts. lol. At other times i was getting by nudging the relay wires. I am confused/dumbfounded as to where the problem lies. Is it tank or relay . Relay is a used one from junk yard.

If you have to do that best check the fuel pump sooner or later the tapping is not gonna work-
