Engine Mechanical problem
1987 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 190k miles

the 87 accord was running fine except for a heistation when giving it gas that i thought was a bad acellerator pump. I got a used carb and put it in place of old one.I started the car and the RPMS went up to appox. 3k and white smoke started pouring out the tailpipe, the car hadnt run for more then 1 minute, . I shut it down right away and there was anti-freeze coming out tailpipe as well as around the exhaust manifold.I later took the head off thinking it blew a head gasket ,the head gasket looks fine no breaks in it but the #1 & 2 pistons are wet and #3 & 4 are dry and I could not see any cracks in head unless they are somewhere or so small i didnt see it and if there was a small crack would it cause that much water to flow out ???.Where else can water be coming from and why did it do so after only changeing carb. ???The car ran fine the day before except for the take off heistation. Thank you Sir.

Hi mario,

Under the carb there is a water passage and most probably the sealing is bad causing water to leak into the manifold and get into the cylinders.
