Lately the "pgm-fi" light on my dashboard has been coming on. What does that mean? Symptoms my car is having is that-at times-when I push on the gas pedal, the engine is responding but my car doesn't go any faster and will start to sputter as if the car is about to stop running. I appreciate any help you can give me on this issue.
Thanks as always!

This is the early version of the "check engine light" to indicate a problem. There is a method to read the problem with a blinking light on the unit. It might be located under the driver seat. Not sure what the process is exactly but there is one you can find to let you put the code. There is then a chart to make sense of the two digit code you get. It sounds though like the engine is in a misfire. I would check the plugs, wires, distributor cap, air filter, etc.
