1986 Honda Accord LX repair issues

Had whole car worked up as it had been sitting. Mechanic said he was able "clean the computer" instead of having to replace it.

Can you explain to me how he would've gone about that?

Hi there, to be honest i have no idea as to what he is talking about, the ECU is a micro processor, it takes in and send out data to engine management sensors and control units, the only memory is in the fault gathering section, this is cleared after every fault code is rectified, there are a number of re learn procedures on some ECU's, but these are often lost when ever the battery is disconnected, there are some manual re learns but i am not sure if there are any on this car, not all have them, so i would be asking him to explain what he means by this.

That's kinda what I thought. Appreciate your input. On the invoice he gave me it states:

Repair Computer $50.00
