At idle, my car makes a whining noise. Like a very high pitched whine. It's not extremely loud but the pitch is high. It's constant(when at a certain rpm) and its almost as if dogs could probably hear it kinda like a t.v when it turns on. It does this mainly in drive and reverse but sometimes in neutral and park. It usually does not do it in park or neutral. I have noticed that it does it around 2k rpm or 1.8k rpm (and idle). It does it only under very very light throttle and not when v-tec is engaged. I think that's all the details. Car runs fine, I'm just very cautious when it comes to noises. Thanks so much for all your help!!!

I always get concerned about noises that come and go on my vehicles. Sometimes they can be attributed to changes we have made to a vehicle. ie new alternator, belt, etc Sometimes they come as a part of a wearing process as they begin their down hill plunge. ie bearing failing in a pump. Whatever the cause finding it is the dilema. I might suggest looking at the air cleaner/filter. Sounds as though under load is when it performs. Try to determine if it is related to something in the belt or belt driven components area.
