Engine Performance problem
1999 Holden Commodore 6 cyl Automatic 200000 miles
The "check power train" warning light keeps coming on whilst I am driving the car. It usually comes on after driving for a few minutes and always stays on for the rest of the trip once it turns on. Once the light comes on the car has problems accelerating. If going up a steep hill and I put my foot flat to the floor on the accelerator the car does not accelerate at all and remains on the same speed. If on a straight bit of road and the light is on and I put my foot flat to the floor on accelerator the car will accelerate, but much more slowly than it should. Once the warning light is on the gear changes become a bit rough and the car jerks a bit when changing gear. All these problems only occur though, when the warning light is on (which is about 75% of the time I am driving the car). If the light is not on the car functions as normal. Have taken it to 2 auto electricians and none can fix the problem. Have had the throttle position switch changed and the throttle body cleaned but neither have fixed the problem. Please someone help!!!! What is this problem?
