A diagnostic and reprogramming tool will be needed to reprogram the new key pad. It's called "DART"
here is one example of what "DART" does:

How to Program Keys
1. Select SKIM FUNCTIONS from the Main Menu, and
Then press ENTER.
2. Place a mechanically cut Sentry ignition key in the
Vehicle ignition.
3. Select PROGRAM KEY(S) from the SKIM Function
Menu, and then press ENTER.
4. Enter the vehicle owner's PIN, and then press
ENTER.
5. Verify that the PIN number is correct (YES) or reenter
If the PIN number is wrong (NO). Follow the onscreen
Prompts to complete the task.
How to Erase Keys
1. Select SKIM FUNCTIONS from the Main Menu, and
then press ENTER.
2. Place a mechanically cut Sentry ignition key in the
vehicle ignition.
3. Select ERASE ALL KEYS from the SKIM Function
menu, and then press ENTER. Select YES to verify
that you want to erase a key, or select NO to quit.
4. Enter the vehicle owner's PIN, and then press
ENTER.
5. Verify that the PIN number is correct (YES) or reenter
if the PIN number is wrong (NO). Follow the onscreen
prompts to complete the task.
6. To reprogram erased keys, follow the How to Program Keys procedure."
You will need a Personal Identification Number (PIN) issued to you (as owner) of the vehicle
By the Dealer when the vehicle was Purchased.
It will be required before the SKIM program can be
Activated. If the PIN is unavailable, contact the
Dealer from whom the car was purchased.
