1992 Holden Commodore making bad noises

hi i have a 1992 v6 vp commodore with 306161 on the clock. im getting a really bad noise coming from the engin. the harmonic balancer is tight and not worn. i took the belt off and the noise went. but when i put the belt back on the noise starting again. while idle the nosie is there but wen reving the engin its gone.

Hi there,

the inner & outer parts of the harmonic balancer give way on these, if the rubber is torn i would look closely here, also check all bearings on water pump, alt, idler & A/C.
