i have a vk with a 308 in it . the other day it started to make a quite ticking noise . after about a day it turned into a loud banging noise it feels like one bang per rev. i stopped driving it straight away but whilst i was driving it to get it home , it didnt feel like it lost any power. asise from the loud banging niose it running really nice . any suggestions

Hi there,

the tick could well be a hydraulic lifter but i have never heard then advance into a banging noise, but still stranger things have happened, i would be getting the lifters checked first.
