High RPMs during start up

Hi,

Does the idle ever go to normal? Also, have you checked to make sure there are no engine vacuum leaks? A vacuum leak can cause idle issues as well as a rough idle.

Has there been any repairs done to the vehicle recently? Did this start all at once?

Hi,

Yes, so the car idles fine but sometimes the RPMs fluctuate, and the interior and headlights start to flicker when at a red light and I do hear a faint whistling sound. Only work done was replaced bank 1 catalytic converter.

I also attached 2 videos, one with the whistling sound and the other of the RPMs fluctuation.

If the RPMs get low enough, it could cause a lighting issue. The whistling sound has my attention. Can you tell me approximately where the sound is coming from? I'm questioning it because an engine vacuum leak can cause the RPM issue. A leak can cause a whistling sound.

I’m hearing it from the middle and bottom of the car. Symptoms are low power when accelerating so a vacuum leak is also what I’m leaning towards to as well. Will update you soon hopefully.

When you are checking, pay attention to the exhaust as well. You may have a catalytic converter that is partially plugged. That would certainly cause the power loss. Take a look through this link:
