I am at a loss. For about a month now, my car has been squealing while I'm driving. It happens only occasionally (more frequently now), and it doesn't happen when i am idling. It squeals at all speeds, but I've noticed it mostly at 30 MPH. It typically doesn't squeal on my first drive of the day (commute to work), but on my way home it will. The noise goes way when i brake and i noticed last night that it went away if i jerk the steering wheel to the right. There is also a noise after i park and take my foot off the brake, and when my car settles into place. I just replaced my front brake pads, thinking the wear indicators may have been the issue but it hasn't helped. i did not check the rear pads. Someone please help! every time i look online it says the noise is brake pads but i don't think it is. I've attached a video of the squealing noise.

Hi,

I do hear it. If it stops when you use the brakes or make a sharp turn, it could be a couple things. However, I need you to check something simple for me.

On the rear of the brake rotors is a dust shield. Check to see if there is anything wedged between it and the rotor. Also, make sure it isn't bent and touching or rusted and touching.

I attached a pic and highlighted the top of the dust shield. It does go around the rear of the rotor. Only the top can be seen in the pic.

Let me know what you find,

Take care,

Joe
