Not uncommon. You need to do an idle reset first to eliminate that as a variable. The reason is that as you drove the vehicle and dirt and carbon built up the engine kept opening the throttle a bit all the time to compensate for the blockage and keep the idle at the factory level. Now you have cleaned that all out, but the PCM cannot close the throttle any farther than the learned value it has from the earlier dirty system. So first, either use a scan tool to reset or disconnect the battery for a few minutes so the PCM forgets the learned values. Now start it, you may need to hold the throttle open a bit and drive it around until it relearns the idle speed position. Now see if it drops to the correct idle speed and the instant higher RPM goes away.
