I was just told by my mechanic I need the throttle body replaced on my car.

He also told me that the need to replace this may have done something to damage the computer panel in my car, causing a costly repair. Is this common that these two go together? Should I ask any questions before allowing go ahead to repair?

Are there any drivability issues? If no issues, it wouldn't hurt to get second opinion? Why would the mechanic suspect the throttle body if no drivability issues?

The car did not start at all. It started with a jump, but the moment the car was turned off, nothing happened when the key was turned. The entire batter ensemble was replaced 4 months ago, so they checked the battery and alternator first, in which both were fine, then used diagnostic codes to determine the problem was the throttle body.

It seems the throttle body is a commonly replaced component on this vehicle. It appears some of the throttle body sensors are integrated into the throttle body, can't fix separately, if sensor is problem.

So he's not too far out when he tells me the computer/sensor could also need to be replaced?

If your saying the starter motor won't even crank, then I'm not sure what the throttle body has to do with it?

If you saying it cranks good but won't start, that is a different issue.
