High Idle?

So, a lot of times this truck idles really high, and it is a smooth idle and it will come down by itself but not right away. So, the only thing I found to get down is the clutch let it out and the idle will come down it is not the cable. Do you think it has something to do with the clutch? Because that is how you can slow the idle down. Thank you

Hi,

The RPMs are lowered because there is a small load being placed on the engine. However, that shouldn't be required, and I don't feel it is clutch-related.

The idle speed is controlled by a component called an Idle Air Control actuator (IAC). What I would recommend is to service it. There could be carbon or dirt in the air passage or on the pintle that is causing this.

The IAC is located on the throttle body. See pics below. Remove and clean it.
