Engine doesn't rev up past 2,000 rpm's, cleaned MAF sensor, replaced plugs, and wires. Replaced O2 sensor and catalytic converter.
Checked fuel pressure at filter, fuel pressure is 75psi at idle.

Hi,

You are exactly right. Here are the pressure specs:

1998 Nissan-Datsun Sentra L4-1597cc 1.6L DOHC MFI (GA16DE)
Pressure, Vacuum and Temperature
Vehicle Powertrain Management Fuel Delivery and Air Induction Fuel Pump Fuel Pressure Specifications Pressure, Vacuum and Temperature
PRESSURE, VACUUM AND TEMPERATURE

FUEL PRESSURE

With vacuum hose connected 34 psi.
With vacuum hase disconnected 43 psi.

Most times, this is the result of a bad fuel pressure regulator. Here are directions for testing the regulator. Pic 1 attached correlates with the directions.

Fuel Pressure Regulator Check

FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR CHECK

pic 1

1. Stop engine and disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from intake manifold.
2. Plug intake manifold with a rubber cap.
3. Connect variable vacuum source to fuel pressure regulator.
4. Start engine and read indication of fuel pressure gauge as vacuum is changed.
Fuel pressure should decrease as vacuum increases. If results are unsatisfactory, replace fuel pressure regulator.

Now, there are two different types of regulators that could be on this car. Because of the year, I believe it will an externally mounted one. See pic 2 for location and pic 3 for what it should look like. If you have a returnless system, it will be in the fuel tank and part of the fuel pump assembly. See pic 4.

Check to see which one you have. Let me know if you have other questions or need help.

Take care,
Joe

You are very welcome. Let me know what you find or if you have other questions. Additionally, let me know which design your vehicle has for a regulator. If it is the in take one, I'll get you directions.

Take care,
Joe
